Jay County Hospital recently awarded the Sharon Tobe Memorial Nursing Scholarship to: Amber Huelskamp, Kathy Siegrist, Michaela Siefring and Brooke Welsch. The Judith Sipe/Dr. Eugene Gillum Memorial Scholarship was also awarded to: Alexis Loy, Katlin Petro, Leslie Peterson and Chelsea Salser.
The Sharon Tobe Memorial Nursing Scholarship was established in honor of Sharon Tobe, RN a long-time employee of the Jay County Hospital and the Emergency Department Manager at the time of her death. The scholarship is awarded each year to a student(s) from Jay County or Mercer County, OH who is currently enrolled in a nursing program.
The Judith Sipe/Dr. Eugene Gillum Memorial Scholarship was established to honor and memorialize Judy and Dr. Gillum’s generous service to Jay County Hospital. Judy worked more than 30 years at Jay County Hospital with most of her time spent as a Patient Care Technician. Dr. Gillum practiced as a family and obstetrics physician for 35 years at Jay County Hospital retiring in 1993, and was a strong advocate for continuing education. This scholarship has been created to assist JCH team members who have the desire to continue their education in a healthcare or other professional field.
