The mission of the Jay County Hospital Foundation is to provide funding for capital improvements and opportunities that will enhance Jay County Hospital’s ability to deliver quality care to the residents of its service area and to support initiatives and programs produced by the Hospital that will foster knowledge and awareness of healthcare issues for the people of its service area. . 2012 Annual Campaign The Jay County Hospital Foundation is proud to make the new Oncology Center the focus of our 2012 Annual Appeal. Why? According to the Indiana Cancer Consortium, Jay County has: - The second highest incidence rate for cancer, by county, in Indiana based upon data from 2005-2009.
- A rate of 519.9 per 100,000 vs. a rate of 475.6 per 100,000 in Indiana from a study using data collected from 2004-2008.
Our new Oncology Center will be located in the north end of the Surgery Center building on the Hospital’s campus and will be operated collaboratively with IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. The space will feature a calm quiet atmosphere with five private treatment areas. By adding this service, Jay County Hospital becomes an even more important link in the healthcare of our community. As you know, this disease often brings family and friends close together to coordinate a transportation strategy for a loved-one or a friend. With over 30 Jay County patients currently traveling to Muncie for chemotherapy, the Oncology Center will reduce the stress of a long drive on the patients and will make transporting them more convenient for caregivers and friends. Just think about the giant step we are about to take with the introduction of this service. As you contemplate making a gift, consider how this will change the stories you hear about receiving cancer treatment. Patients will be soon be able to stay close to home, go to their Hospital and be in a hometown atmosphere.
